Stier Family with the Knox Hotel

They say that when God shuts a door, He opens a window, but in our case, He opened a HOTEL! Crazy, I know, but we couldn’t be more excited to take this project on and share our progress along the way. When Dane and I look back at how this hotel project all unfolded, there is no denying that it was meant to be. We fell in love with the building the second our feet stepped inside. We cast a vision to investors that believe in us and our dream.

The road ahead will not be easy, but we know it will be worth it. So stay tuned and follow along for all the progress as we breath life back into the Knox Hotel!

Wonderful to learn it will be restored. My father Paul Rockstad had a tire shop on the main floor in the space on the northwest corner by the alley. It had an entrance on Long Street. We lived in an apt above the store until he relocated at 942 N Main St. I remember a wooden back stairway that could be taken from an area inside bhind there to the second floor. There was a big space back in there that the hotel laundry was hung to dry. Maybe skylights. I’m not sure. I was under 5 and it seemed like a very big place to me. I used to play in the park (Darius Miller) across the street and wave at the railroad men on the train cabooses as they went by
