Buying ALL the Things!
As I sit here typing this blog, I currently have 20 tabs open, all with hotel details to be decided on and ordered! Exciting, yet overwhelming at the same time! This past week, we have focused on ordering fixtures and other hardware for the rooms, such as mirrors, sinks, faucets, a clawfoot tub, sconces, ceiling medallions, door knobs, door locks, and much, much more. With everything taking a little longer to ship these days, we want to make sure we can order everything to have it here on time or even early. That way, when the plumbing and HVAC goes in and we start putting up drywall, we will have all the material to put the finishing touches together!
Making design decisions mostly falls on my lap and as much fun as that is, it can also be very overwhelming at times (I may or may not have had several break downs with Dane over design elements). It can be difficult to make decisions without a rendering of what it will all look like when put together, but at the end of the day, I trust my style and make the decision. It will be so exciting to see all the details come together!
Another room feature that we will have to order soon is mattresses! Dane and I are planning a date for next week to go to the mattress store and test all the mattresses to pick the best one and order them! So exciting! However, we have found it to be very difficult to find headboards that we love. Older, antique headboards were made smaller, so those won’t work for the queen and king beds we want to have in the rooms, so now the challenge is to find newer headboards that still offer a vintage, elegant look. Guess I better add more tabs to my page! Haha!
All-in-all we still feel like we’re making progress, even if it is just ordering fun stuff from our computers! This week we have a plumber doing a follow-up walk through and our fingers are crossed! Stay tuned for next week’s update with our mattress decision journey!
