New electrical panel in mechanical room

It has been quite some time since we last posted on our blog, mostly because it’s been a little crazy with me transitioning back to work and trying to find a new routine, but also because we’ve honestly felt a little discouraged with our progress and search for a plumber.

You read that correctly, it has been very difficult to find the perfect plumber for the job! However, even though it may be discouraging at times, there are some promising prospects in view and we have had some other exciting progress that is worth noting!

Electrical has been installed in the first three rooms, except the bathrooms, because ya know, we need the plumbing first! And we actually have LIVE outlets in the mechanical room, so we no longer have to run 100 feet extension cords from the first floor to the second to work at night! (Dane is really relieved now that we have lights strung up in the hallway to keep the ghosts away! Haha!) So exciting, especially since it’s starting to get darker earlier and our time at night to work is precious! And a HUGE shoutout to C&C Electric! They have been absolutely amazing to work with!

Another exciting installment has been insulation just this week! We can’t put insulation everywhere because we still have to install HVAC and plumbing, but along the brick walls that are also exterior, we were able to get started and it is so exciting to see! Soon you’ll start to see drywall going up and we’ll really be able to envision what the rooms will look like!

This week we finalized our plans for the first three bathrooms, and Someone’s in the Kitchen is busy at work ordering all of the materials. It took a lot of time, thinking and praying and re-evaluating, to come up with a design that we were really happy with. Just goes to show how important it is to take a step back sometimes and start from scratch instead of pigeonholing yourself into one idea. We’re excited to share some glimpses of that as the materials come in!

So, little by little we are getting those three bedrooms ready to go! Dane finished adjusting the walls for the last bathroom, which is great! A lot of the work that needs to be done now is a lot that will be contracted out, but after that, it will be fun late nights at the hotel putting the finishing touches together!

Thanks for following along and be sure to check in next week as we begin giving more regularly timed updates! Haha!
