Going to the mattresses!
Haha! Okay, so we’re not going to the mattresses in the way Clemenza meant it in “The Godfather.” We literally went to the mattresses at Steinberg’s Furniture to test them all out! It ended up being such a fun family outing and we left with a mattress we all loved!
Laura from Steinberg’s Furniture helped us out a ton and led us in the right direction to pick out a perfect king-size mattress for the first three hotel rooms. I personally love super soft/plush mattresses, but there will be many guests at the hotel and many who may not like a super soft mattress. For that reason, we decided to go with a happy medium between plush and firm. It’s literally called “medium,” haha! We are going back next week to place our order and we are both so excited! I was honestly a little nervous about picking out mattresses for the rooms because I thought it would be a difficult process and that Dane and I wouldn’t be able to agree, but it went well and was actually a ton of fun! Phineas even approved of our mattress choice!
As for all other updates, we have the classic good news, bad news situation! I always choose the bad news first, so that way I end on a happy note. So, here’s the bad news… the HVAC can’t be installed until mid-December. While I’m bummed about the news, I am fully confident that we will be able to get almost everything else done by then so we will be open right before Christmas! We can even put up the drywall on all the walls (just not the ceiling yet)! And for those of you who don’t know me, I LOVE Christmas! I plan on making the rooms absolutely magical with Christmas decor when they open for the first time and I can’t wait for everyone to experience them!
And what’s the good news you ask??
WE FOUND A PLUMBER! I repeat, WE FOUND A PLUMBER! Haha! I don’t know if I’ll ever be this excited again to find and hire a plumber, but it’s a big deal! We have reached out to SO MANY plumbers and have had such a hard time, but we never stopped looking and most importantly, we never stopped praying about hiring the perfect plumber for this job! It may not have been in the timing we would have liked, but I believe that it is in the Lord’s timing and his timing is ALWAYS perfect! So, we are sending him the final bathroom plans and should be signing a contract next week and then he can get started! Woohoo! And once the plumbing is installed, everything else can move forward very quickly! Exciting times ahead!
Until then, Dane and I will be working diligently at the hotel this weekend to prep everything for the plumber including: finish removing lath from the third floor above the three rooms, setting up the bathroom layout on the third floor rooms above the rooms on the second floor, and cleaning up everything so that there is enough space to work!
Stay tuned for more updates because THEY ARE COMING!! 🙂
